Transform the former Infants School into a centre of activity that's in touch
with the real needs of local people, groups and small business while also providing a fresh new focus for capturing Abergavenny's positive community spirit and recyling it back into projects for local benefit.
The Victorian landmark building [built in 19th Century to school the children of railway workers] makes a significant and valuable contribution to the physical, historical and cultural landscape of Abergavenny, and its' people.
OUR HERITAGE is a resource that we can use to help our economy.
It's important that Abergavenny doesn't lose another landmark building that connects people to our shared-past. People and Places DO matter
Regeneration in 2009/10 will enable an existing building to provide for the current and future needs of local people while making provision for future generations too.
While the building lies in a Conservation Area there is little in planning law that will protect the building from demolition in favour of housing. [The Authority has a 'presumption' in favour of housing development.]
